Sunday
We were so sad to leave Zimbabwe. LOVE IT THERE!!! The nature is just breathtaking, and the people are just so kind. Woke up this morning to baboons looking through our patio window. I think I am terrified of Baboons - they are so human like but also look pure evil when they hiss at you. Henk said they could rip us to shreds, so we kept our distance. Oh, and our hotel receptionist was named Blessed. Seriously. Coolest Zimbabwean dude ever - He and Henk became buddies. Henk asked me to mention that.
So leaving the teeny tiny airport of Victoria Falls was just as hillarious as arriving. It's kinda like a bus stop. You all hang outside until the airplane pulls up to the "parking spot" and lets you on board. Security? What's that? Okay, so then we are all onboard and they tell us that they need to spray the plane for Yellow Fever. i though they meant the outside of the plane. Nope. The attendents marched up and down the aise with arosol cans spraying this stuff all over us. No biggie - i sure appreciated the irish waters dollarstore purfume scent.haha
Well we arrived in Johannesburg, and Henk was pleasantly suprised at how good it looks....everyone told him how rundown everything is...so it was nice to see that some parts of this city are still very very beautiful.
Only an hour after arriving at our hotel we received a knock at our door---it was our cousins and auntie!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about an emotional, life changing moment in both of our lives. Henk - to see his family...it means so much to him. I really cant put into words how cool that was. We had an amazing (but quick) visit with them before we met up with our tour group. Thankfully we'll see them again for a week at the end of our trip!!!!
Our tour group starts early in the morning and there are 15 of us on this tour. Most are Canadian, with a few Americans. Average age is 55. We're cool with that, because I would hate to hang out with a bunch of 20-somethings. They all seem really fun and nice. (AND THERE ARE NO RUSSIANS!!!) Mom: you'll appreciate that! Our tour guide is sooo nice, and looks exactly like Chris Rock. He talks like him too. He`ll be with us for the next week.
Well, Internet is available everywhere...but it's not always reliable...so hopefully you'll hear from us soon - and someday we might have enough wifi to actually post pictures.
Love you!
